There are two methods for making copies of original radiographs.

* Duplicating Machine Method
* Overhead Room Light Method

Duplicating Machine Method

* Place the original radiograph on the transparent surface of the duplicator

* Place the duplicating film on top of the radiograph. Make sure that the emulsion side of the duplicating film (remember duplicating film has emulsion on one side only) is in contact with the original radiograph. The emulsion side of the film is facing the light source.

* Different brands of duplicating film require different exposure times. The exposure time vary from 5 to 30 seconds. The exposure time is dependent upon type of duplicator and film type. To find the best exposure time it is recommended to select 15 to 20 seconds exposure time and take an exposure. After exposure develop the film.

* If the duplicate copy comes out light, the exposure time should be decreased.

* If the duplicate copy comes out dark, the exposure time should be increased.

Overhead Room Light Method

* Take the duplicating film and place it on the counter top with emulsion side facing up.

* Place the original radiograph on top of the duplicating film.

* Follow steps 3, 4 & 5 as described for duplicating machine method.

Note:

Some RINN brand duplicators have a pre-light or viewing light. If this light is orange in color then this light bulb should be changed to RINN P/N 3201. The orange color light will fog the duplicating film. All RINN duplicators manufactured after January 1, 1997 have proper bulb.
